This Blu-ray set comes with Hong Sang Soo's 13th and 14th feature films, In Another Country and Nobody's Daughter Haewon.

In Another Country (2012)

Hong Sang Soo's 13th film features elements that one can always expect from the Korean auteur: alcohol, misbehaving men, and multiple variations of the same narrative. However, In Another Country offers a twist to the formula with the presence of legendary French actress Isabelle Huppert. In her first foray into Asian cinema, Huppert plays Anne, the heroine of three different short films penned by a young film student (Jung Yoo Mi) in a quiet seaside town. In the first story, Huppert is French director on a vacation with a Korean filmmaker and his wife. Then, she becomes the wife of a businessman on a secret rendezvous with a Korean man (Moon Sung Keun). Finally, she is a recent divorcee who is brought to the town by a friend (Yoon Yeo Jeong). Despite the three drastically different stories, they all revolve the same characters: an awkward innkeeper who gives bad directions, a friendly lifeguard (Yoo Jun Sang) who often crosses the line into creepy, and a lighthouse that seems to be impossible to find. Capturing the awkwardness of intercultural communication in a quietly hilarious manner, Hong's competition entry in the 2012 Cannes Film Festival is one of the funniest films in the auteur's distinguished career.

Nobody's Daughter Haewon (2013)

Screened in competition at the 2013 Berlin Film Festival, Nobody's Daughter Haewon has, as usual, unrewarding relationships, sudden zoom shots, quirky dream sequences and a troubled filmmaker who takes to the bottle. But this time the focus of the auteur's story is the eponymous heroine, portrayed by breakthrough actress Jung Eun Chae. Film student Hae Won wants to end her on-again off-again affair with married professor Sung Joon (Lee Seon Gyun, Night and Day). Feeling lonely and depressed after bidding farewell to her Canada-bound mother (Kim Ja Ok), she finds herself back in the company of Sung Joon. To make matters worse, they run into other students from their university and inadvertently reveal their relationship. Yoo Jun Sang (In Another Country), Ye Ji Won (Hahaha), Ryu Deok Hwan (The Peach Tree) and Jane Birkin also appear in the film.
