Twelve years after the original Friend broke Korea's box office records, the classic gangster drama about brotherhood and betrayal returns with a sequel, again directed by Kwak Kyung Taek. Friend, The Great Legacy takes on an ambitious multi-generation storyline set in the present-day and in the sixties, with Yoo Oh Sung reprising his role from the original film. He's joined by Ju Jin Mo, who starred in Kwak Kyung Taek's 2007 gangster melodrama A Love, and hot television rising star Kim Woo Bin (The Heirs) in his big screen debut.
Seventeen years after the events of the first film, Joon Suk (Yoo Oh Sung) is released from prison. He sets out to reclaim the gang built by his father (Ju Jin Mo), who fought his way through the Busan underworld back in 1963. Among Joon Suk's new followers is Sung Hoon (Kim Woo Bin), the troubled son of Jang Dong Gun's character Dong Soo.
