Directed by Kim Sung Su (The Flu), the Korea-Japan co-production Genome Hazard is a sci-fi crime thriller based on the novel by Tsukasaki Shiro. Shot mostly in Japanese with some Korean, the film stars popular Japanese actor Nishijima Hidetoshi (Strawberry Night) as a man living a life that does not belong to him. Korean actress Kim Hyo Jin (Marriage Blue) and Japanese actress Maki Yoko (The Ravine of Goodbye) co-star in the mind-bending thriller.
Japanese artist Ishigami (Nishijima Hidetoshi) comes home one night and finds his wife dead on the living floor. Minutes later, he receives a phone call from his wife, apparently alive and well. Before he can make sense of the situation, some men show up at the door claiming to be police officers. When he turns back around, his wife's body has disappeared. Ishigami suddenly finds himself on the run from mysterious assailants as he investigates the mystery with the help of a Korean reporter (Kim Hyo Jin) he meets by chance. Gradually, he comes to realize that his identity and memories may not be his own.
