This book discusses pottery, which has been a part of the daily life of Koreans throughout the ages. The history of Korean pottery began with people making earthenware vessels to store food. This was followed by the development of stoneware, pottery fired at high temperatures to become as hard as metal, and then the creation of high quality stoneware covered in glaze. Indeed, pottery has been at the core of the history of Korean ceramics and survives today in onggi jars, which are for everyday use. Through changes in periods and kingdoms, Koreans have treasured pottery vessels as important items in daily life. This book shows the natural and easy beauty of pottery vessels and the honesty of Korean handicrafts. Rha Sun-hwa, the author of this book, majored in Korean Art History at Ewha Womans University and is a chief curator at Ewha Womans University Museum.
