The third piece in the horror series of "Whispering Corridors (1999, 2001)." Each piece in this series brings light on the tensions and violence in school life. "Wishing Stairs" deals with jealousy and competition among high school girls. As director Yun Jae-yeon's first feature film, the story revolves around a stone staircase in the woods near a high school dormitory. The staircase is called 'Yeowu (fox) Stairs' because of the legend that the spirit of a fox residing in the stairs grants a climber's wishes. The legend has it that if a person climbing the stairs makes a desperate wish, the stairs, consisting of 28 steps, gives out a 29th step at the top of the staircase and grants the wish. Students secretly make a wish not paying attention to the dark side of the legend that the granted wishes also bring a curse. |
